Founded by Benedictine monks as a prayer location during the Renaissance era, the castle was later modified by the Count of Castellane in the 20th century. The history of Le Prieuré began in the 11th century with the Benedictine monks. They found the beauty and serenity of the area was propitious to their life of prayer. Then the style became Renaissance, with its elegance and refinery . In turn, the Counts of Aubépin in the 19th century and the Count of Castellane in the beginning of the 20th century modified the castle. To the latter, the Prieuré owes its terraces from which the beautiful panorama over the Loire River below can be enjoyed!
Today, Château Le Prieuré is part of La Grande Maisons Younan Collection, regaining all the elegance and prestige of its long and beautiful history!

The Loire, its islands, and the surrounding valley as far as the eye can see. In this land of castles with its easygoing way of life, the white silhouette of this former Benedictine Priory perched on a cliff surrounding by greenery. Its vast chimneys, tower and spiral staircase bear witness to the past, whilst its restaurant with its panoramic view over the Loire offers an innovative menu respectful of the traditions of Anjou. You will enjoy the charm of its character rooms ot the more pastoral setting of its residences hidden away on the 60-acre grounds.

Le Prieuré has 36 rooms of 6 different categories, from the most elegant apartment to the most delightful room. Suites, „Deluxe“, „Superior“, „Traditional“ or „Standard“ rooms, 21 rooms elegantly decorated in keeping with their location and enjoying modern comforts and views over the Loire or the park, located in the Château or just opposite in a lodge with plenty of character. 15 other, more country-style and pleasantly decorated rooms are located in the centre of the park in ground floor residences.

Spacious and bright, overlooking the royal river, the Prieuré restaurant offers a breathtaking view over the Loire and its valley. Large bay windows, wood panelling, wall hangings and old stones, relics of the original 12 th century priory, make up the décor. These places diffuse a special atmosphere of light and warmth, quietude and balance, we are indeed in Anjou!

This lovely manor house dating from the 12th and 16th centuries, situated in a 25 hectare park, is an exceptional setting for your reception between friends or family. The drawing and dining rooms open on to a unique panorama of the Loire Valley. The Prieuré is the best place ever to welcome guests in its dining room up to 120 people.
